Dr Kyoungjin ("KJ") Yoon obecnie jest profesorem w College of Veterinary Medicine w Iowa State University i jest wirusologiem weterynaryjnym posiadającym certyfikat American College of Veterinary Microbiologists. Prof. Yoon otrzymał wykształcenie weterynaryjne (DVM, 1985) oraz tytuł magistra (1987) w Preventive Veterinary Medicine w Seoul National University w Korei i uzyskał tytuł doktora (1995) w Veterinary Microbiology w Iowa State Unviersity. Od 1995 roku jest wykładowcą w Iowa State University, a także obejmuje stanowisko Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory jako Section Leader of Virology and Molecular Microbiology. Prof. Yoon jest również naukowo związany z University of Nebraska w Lincoln, Nebraska (adiunkt) i Qingdao Agricultural University w Chinach (profesor wizytujący). Oprócz naukowej przynależności, obejmuje stanowiska w zarządach redakcji wielu czasopism i jest obecnie redaktorem Journal of Veterinary Diagnsotic Investigation, redaktorem naukowym PLoS One i redaktorem działu wirusologicznego BMC Veterinary Research. Zainteresowania naukowe prof. Yoon koncentrują się na infekcjach wirusowych zwierząt gospodarskich, w szczególności trzody chlewnej i bydła, związanych z patogenezą, diagnostyką oraz profilaktyką i kontrolą, w tym ekologią choroby. Do chwili obecnej, prof. Yoon opublikował ponad 130 artykułów naukowych i jest autorem rozdziałów 18 książek, w tym edycji 3 książek / monografii. Jest autorem lub współautorem ponad 400 referatów z konferencji i abstraktów na krajowe i międzynarodowe konferencje, kongresy i sympozja.

Dr. Kyoungjin (“KJ”) Yoon is currently a Professor in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University and is a American College of Veterinary Microbiologists board certified veterinary virologist.  Prof. Yoon received his veterinary training (DVM, 1985) and master degree (1987) in Preventive Veterinary Medicine from Seoul National University in Korea and earned PhD (1995) in Veterinary Microbiology at Iowa State Unviersity.  Since 1995, he has been on the faculty at Iowa State University and has also been serving the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory as Section Leader of Virology and Molecular Microbiology.  Prof. Yoon is also academically affiliated with the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, Nebraska (Adjunct Professor) and Qingdao Agricultural University in China (Guest Professor).  Besides academic affiliations, he is serving on editorial board for numerous journals and is currently an Editor for the Journal of Veterinary Diagnsotic Investigation, Academic Editor for PLoS One and Virology Section Editor for BMC Veterinary Research.  Prof. Yoon’s research interests focus on viral infections of livestock, particularly swine and bovine, related to the pathogenesis, diagnostics, and prevention and control including disease ecology. To date, Prof. Yoon has published more than 130 refereed publications and has authored 18 book chapters including editing 3 books/monographs.  He has authored or co-authors more than 400 conference proceedings and abstracts for national and international conferences, congresses and symposia.

Dr. Kyoungjin ("KJ") Yoon ist derzeit Professor auf dem College für Tiermedizin an der Iowa State University und ist zertifizierter Veterinärvirologe des Amerikanischen College für Veterinäre Mikrobiologie. Prof. Yoon hat seine Tierärztliche Lehre (DVM, 1985) und sein Meisterdiplom (1987) in Präventiver Tiermedizin an der Seuol National University in Korea und erhielt sein PhD (1995) in Veterinärer Mikrobiologie auf der Iowa State University. Seit 1995 ist er bei der Fakultät an der Iowa State University und hat auch dem Labor der tierärztlichem Diagnostik als Sektionsleiter für Virologie und Molekulare Mikrobiologie gedient. Prof. Yoon ist auch wissenschaftlich mit der Universität von Nebraska in Lincoln, Nebraska (Adjunkt Professor) und mit der Qingdao Landwirtschaftsuniversität in China (Gast Professor) verbunden. Neben akademischen Verbindungen, dient er auch in der Chefredaktion für zahlreiche Journals und ist derzeit der Redakteur für das Journal of Veterinary Diagnostic Investigation, wissenschaftlicher Redakteur für PLoS One und Redakteur der Virologie Sektion für BMC Veterinary Research. Prof. Yoon's Forschungsschwerpunkt konzentriert sich auf virale Tierinfektionen, hauptsächlich bei Schweinen und Rindern, im Zusammenhang mit Pathogenese, Diagnostik und Prävention und Kontrolle einschließlich der Krankheitsökologie. Bis heute hat Prof. Yoon über 130 referierte Publikationen veröffentlicht und ist Autor von 18 Buchkapiteln, einschließlich der Redaktion von 3 Büchern/Monografien.  Er hat mehr als 400 Tagungsberichte und Zusammenfassungen für nationale und internationale Konferenzen, Kongressen und Symposien verfasst oder mit verfasst.

Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea: U.S. experience and research understanding of the disease and control

Porcine epidemic diarrhea (PED) is a swine coronavirus-assocaited enteric disease characterized by explusive diarrhea in pigs of all ages.  Ahtough PED has been known since 1970, it was not until April of 2014 that the diease emerged in US swine.  The talk is to share U.S. experience in dealing with a newly emerging disease and lessons learned from it toward disease control.

Epidemiczna biegunka świń: doświadczenia z USA i badania dotyczące przebiegu i zwalczania choroby

Epidemiczna biegunka świń (PED) jest koronawirusową chorobą przewodu pokarmowego świń w każdym wieku, charakteryzującą się nagłą, obfitą biegunką.  Chociaż PED jest znana od 1970 r. u świń w USA pojawiła się dopiero w kwietniu 2014. Wykład przedstawia amerykańskie doświadczenia dotyczące walki z tą nową chorobą oraz wnioski dotyczące sposobów jej zwalczania.
