Zapalenie jelit u prosiąt ssących
Częstą przyczyną upadków prosiąt ssących są choroby jelit. Przyczyna
niespecyficzne.
lochą podczas porodu i nowonarodzonymi prosiętami! Najważniejsze jest
zapewnienie nowo narodzonym prosiętom odpowiedniej ilości i dobrej
jakości siary. Jakość siary, by zawierała przeciwciała przeciw różnym
patogenom, można polepszyć szczepiąc lochę przed porodem odpowiednimi
szczepionkami.
Suckling Piglet Enteric Disease
A considerable portion of
the mortality during the suckling period is due to enteric disease. The
cause of enteric disease is multifactorial and does not only depend on
the presence of pathogens such as bacteria (for example
E. coli or C. perfringens),
viruses (Rota- and Coronaviruses) and/or parasites (Coccidia and
Cryptosporidia). What happens to the piglet at birth and in the first
hours afterwards is also of critical importance.
Suckling piglet enteric disease is characterized by its main clinical
sign: diarrhea. The color and consistency can vary greatly and should
not be used to conclude the etiological pathogenic agent. Likewise,
other associated clinical signs such as vomiting, shivering and huddling
are unspecific. Therefore laboratory diagnostics should be performed to
determine the pathogen behind the disease. Ideally, two to three,
acutely diseased piglets should be euthanized, necropsied and the
samples taken directly from the gut. However, if this is not possible,
fecal samples from acutely ill piglets can be analyzed as well.
Piglets affected with enteric disease must be immediately taken care of.
Regular rehydration with electrolyte fluids and a warm clean nest are of
the utmost importance if the piglets are to survive. A simple rule of
thumb is that the more individual care the piglets receive, the more of
them are likely to survive. Individual treatments with antimicrobials
may also be necessary in some cases.
Better however than treating piglets for enteric
disease is to prevent that they will ever become diseased. Good hygiene
of the farrowing crate and nest (together with an optimal temperature
for both sow and piglets) is the beginning. Good management of the sow
around birth and the intensive care of the neonatal pigs is nevertheless
the key! Especially the sufficient uptake of good quality colostrum is
of the upmost importance for the piglets. The quality of the colostrum
with respect to antibodies against individual pathogens can be enhanced
by vaccinating the sows before farrowing.
Saugferkelenteritis
überhaupt an Diarrhoe erkranken.
